HOT MONTHLY TIPS FROM OUR GOOD FRIENDS AT TOURISM CENTRAL AUSTRALIA

THERE’S NOTHING QUITE like a little weekend getaway or mid-week mini vaycay in the bush to fill your cup and have you feeling refreshed.

Central Australia is the perfect location for a quick holiday, with plenty of homesteads and camping spots located just a short drive from Alice Springs. Grab your friends, your partner or the kids, jump in the car, and head out to discover more of what the Red Centre has to offer.

The East MacDonnell Ranges are one of the worst kept secrets of the Red Centre. Although slightly less famous than its other half, the East Macs boast extraordinary beauty, full of rich culture, history and natural wonders. Head out along the Ross Highway, maybe stopping in at Emily and Jessie Gap or Trephina Gorge along the way, then park up and enjoy a night or two at one of the historical homesteads.

All offering camping or accommodation, as well as plenty to see and do, Arltunga Bush Pub & Eco Retreat, Ross River Resort and Hale River Homestead make for fantastic getaway spots for locals and tourists alike.

If you’re looking for something a little different and want to get your hands dirty, head slightly north of Alice and you’ll find Gemtree. Set up camp or book a cabin for a few nights and enjoy the great outdoors. Spend your nights relaxing around the campfire under starry skies, and hit the gem fields and fossick for red garnets and zircons by day. You can’t get much more unique than that!

For the ultimate outback experience with a hint of luxury, head to Ooraminna Station Homestead for a couple of nights in the luxury cottages or the beautiful glamping tents. Enjoy your days lounging by the pool with the perfect desert views, and save yourself from cooking by enjoying a meal from the scenic restaurant.

Whether it’s luxury, camping or glamping you’re after, the Red Centre is the perfect place to get out and explore!
