HOT MONTHLY TIPS FROM OUR GOOD FRIENDS AT TOURISM CENTRAL AUSTRALIA

THERE’S FUN TO be had for the whole family in Central Australia, so get your family out and about in the Red Centre these school holidays. With so much to see and do around this beautiful region, kids and grown-ups alike can be entertained for days!

Step back in time and learn about the history of Central Australia and the unique ways our country operates. Explore everything from telegraph stations, transport, mining, natural history, the criminal justice system and the amazing achievements of women in Australia over the years.

Discover life in the outback and get the kids interacting with all things technology, as you delve into what makes growing up in the outback so unique. Visit the Aviation Museum and let kids’ imaginations run wild as they look through the evolution of outback aircrafts, then head over to the Royal Flying Doctors Tourist Facility to see how aviation is still used today to save the lives of those in rural areas. School of the Air is bound to grab the attention of your little ones, as they see how school looks for other kids living around the country.

Enter a world of wonder with unique tours and experiences celebrating the ancient culture of our First Nations people. Hear Dreamtime stories, participate in art workshops, taste bushfoods and learn about the healing qualities of bush medicine, as you gain greater understanding of traditional ways of life in the region.

Let the kids off the leash in the great outdoors with fantastic hikes, mountain biking, waterholes, or even a Segway ride. Why not get your hands dirty and try fossicking for gemstones, with the added excitement of getting to take home what you dig up!

Lions and tigers and bears? More like lizards, snakes and camels! Get up close and personal with reptiles and other native wildlife at Alice Springs Desert Park and Alice Springs Reptile Centre, or see the world from a little higher up with a camel ride by the West Macs or around iconic Uluru. There’s something for the whole family to enjoy if wildlife encounters are what you’re looking for.

Get out there these school holidays and discover everything the Red Centre has to offer!
