Anna Boustead
ORIGINALLY HAILING FROM OCEAN GROVE, Darwin-based indie singer-songwriter Anna Boustead played solo for years before forming a band with After the Rain in 2003. You might have seen them supporting Jessica Mauboy at the Territory Day celebrations last year, or at the Adelaide River Music Muster, and you can catch them at Happy Yess this month.

What was the first concert you ever went to?
Not counting Peter Combe as a kid (with his hit song Toffee Apple), when I was 12 I went to see John Farnham at Rod Laver Arena. I went with my mum (a nurse) and a bunch of other nurses on a bus from Geelong. I remember the nurses got stuck into the champas on the bus and sang loudly over the top of Farnsie for the whole concert.
What’s your favourite album of all time?
Big question! Probably still The Best of Crowded House. I must have listened to it a thousand times but still enjoy cracking out the CD every now and then. I vividly remember falling in love with them watching their final concert in front of the Sydney Opera House on TV as a young teenager. And I have a particular connection to Neil Finn as my husband and I recently walked down the aisle to Message to My Girl.
Whose posters did you have stuck to the wall when you were a teenager?
Hmm. I recall lots of Bon Jovi (in their floppy hair days), some Matchbox 20, Jewel and Powderfinger. I don't think any of them survived the move from share house to share house but even if they had I doubt I would have kept them!
My friends would describe me as...
a bit of a dag with a sensitive soul.
Describe your sound in three words.
Dynamic, unique, melodic.
