Anne McCue
Blues rocker Anne McCue swings by to talk encores, The Beatles and more Beatles with OTL's Liz Trevaskis.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
I think it may have been at The Hordern Pavilion in Sydney, one of those great all ages shows they used to have in the 'Death To Disco' era. I remember Split Enz played and they were amazing – they played about five true encores! The Aliens played as well, with a ton of other bands. I was with a group of school friends, we must have been 14 years old.
What’s your favourite album of all time?
I don't have a favourite at the moment. But in the past, my favourite albums have been: Car Wheels On A Gravel Road (Lucinda Williams), The Magical Mystery Tour (Beatles), Big Science (Laurie Anderson), Show Some Emotion (Joan Armatrading), OK Computer (Radiohead), Something Else (The Kinks), Astor Piazzola Live in Vienna, Erik Satie (Reinbert de Leeuw)… etc. etc….! Like everyone, the music touches my soul in some way and for different reasons – it’s always an emotional response.
Finish this sentence. My friends would describe me as...
Well, that's a bit tricky – which friends??? And to be honest, at this point, I don't really know. I have changed a lot over the years!
Whose posters did you have stuck to the wall when you were a teenager?
I think I may have had the photographs from The Beatles White Album on my wall. Also, I loved Laurence Olivier and made a badge with his picture on it.
