It’s no secret we love our seafood up in these parts, so it’s only fitting we spend a whole month celebrating the people, places, and produce behind the Northern Territory’s world-class seafood.

THROUGHOUT THE INAUGURAL NT Seafood Month, presented by Territory Taste and Sprout, restaurants, cafés and bars unite to celebrate seafood caught and grown across the Northern Territory.
From barra to mud crab, September offers a plethora of opportunities to wrap your chops around the freshest local ocean produce, with the NT Seafood Trail. Diners delight their tastebuds through curated menus and one-off dishes crafted for the occasion, with two exciting fine dining experiences announced at time of this masthead’s production.
Join Executive Chef John “Jojo” Borlagdan for the Humpty Doo Barramundi Dinner at Darwin’s newest restaurant, The Aviary, at voco Suites. Feast upon barramundi done four ways, before the hero of the evening is dished up – Humpty Doo Barramundi with lemongrass and galangal beurre blanc, Jarrahdale pumpkin purée, seasonal vegetables, and mustard-chive sabayon – the whole shebang paired with wines from Wicks Estate in the Adelaide Hills.
Head over to Wharf One for the NT Seafood Long Table Dinner, featuring three chefs – NT Seafood Ambassador Corey Costelloe, Storyteller Chef Zach Green, and Wharf One Executive Chef Boats Zoodsm – and six courses from five NT seafood producers.
In addition to bougie seafood dinners, foodies can enjoy a full-day free, family-friendly celebration at Darwin Waterfront’s Beach Club
The seaside setting brings together chefs, fishers, farmers, sea farmers and industry representatives for an afternoon of talks, tastings and entertainment, with live cooking demonstrations – including how to tie mud crabs!
Peruse producer and sea farmer displays, sit in on industry panels and conversations with the people who catch, grow and supply Territory seafood, and enjoy live music, with kids’ activities also on the cards.
