Cin-Cin with Never Never Gin

There’s no denying gin has seen a resurgence over the last few years, delighting the taste buds of fans of the spirit, old and new. From its humble beginnings as a medicinal liquor in the 11th Century, these days, it’s become one of the most en vogue tipples to be seen sipping on.

Popping up in fancy bars, events and festivals all over the place – and with an increase in distilleries across the country, as well as right here in the Territory – its versatile base of juniper berries makes it easily paired with a wide range of flavours. From lemon and spanked thyme to strawberries and mint, there’s no end to the combinations. Even green ants have made the cut.

Well, gin lovers rejoice, because Hilton Darwin brings Aussie favourite Never Never Distillery Co. to the table for one special night. Hilton Darwin’s General Manager Markus Kaliss says the hotel is keen to continue offering these unique food and drink experiences.

“I am very excited to bring Never Never Distillery Co. to Darwin for this amazing event. While Hilton is a large global company, we are always trying to work with smaller local companies and the Never Never Distillery Co. is a great example of that,” he says.

“[Never Never] has some wonderful gins that will work very well with the food menu of the day, and we are also planning to add these gins to our normal bar menu, as they will be a great addition to the award-winning PepperBerry Restaurant.”

A range of platters are set for feasting, with entrée, mains and dessert. Enjoy slow-cooked rosemary and garlic lamb with red wine jus, orange and soy glazed snapper, and pear salad with pecans, cranberries and parmesan. Sweet temptations include mini brownies and blondies, apple pies, peach cheesecake and fresh fruit.

Never Never’s brand ambassador Shay Chamberlain is in town for the big event, presenting four of the distillery’s most popular gins to wash it all down. Enjoy their signature Triple Juniper Gin, the Dark Series Med Gin – which is inspired by their home on the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia – newest release Oyster Shell Gin, and Ginache Gin 2021, which we hear is perfect for dessert. There’s also a welcome drink concocted by the Never Never team. Nice.
