HILTON DARWIN HAS a special treat for the Top End’s vegan and environmentally conscious folk this month, with the first Earth Hour Vegan Wine Dinner.

Every year, millions of people around the globe participate in Earth Hour by going lights out in an attempt to raise awareness for our planet’s changing climate. With more than 180 countries taking part last year, the conversation has grown exponentially since its inception in 2007, right here in Australia.

Now, our attention has turned to our food, with many people going vegan either full or part-time to be mindful of the energy required to put animal products on the plate.

This year, you’re invited to spend Earth Hour a little differently with a sumptuous pairing of selected vegan dishes and vegan-certified wines – enjoy six courses of eco-friendly delights whilst doing your bit for the planet!

The sumptuous menu includes pan-roasted asparagus with wild garlic and white bean hummus, spring onion and hazelnut pesto; roasted pumpkin, sage and fennel tartlets with sundried tomato pesto; and portobello mushrooms Kiev’s with garlic béchamel. Yum.

Each course is paired with a delicious, vegan-certified, eco-friendly drop from South Australian wineries The Lane Vineyard, Rymill Coonawarra and Bremerton Wines.

And don’t forget to save room for dessert… Close your vegan foodie experience with a fresh raspberry, almond, sherry and saffron trifle. Delicious!
