One for the Ladies
If nibbling on gourmet sandwiches and tarts, homemade cakes and scones, washed down with freshly brewed tea sounds like your jam donut, you simply must try A Tropical High Tea – Darwin’s new mobile high tea catering service.

Friends and business partners, Elana and Katie, wanted to set up a unique catering company specifically for Top End ladies after noticing options for special occasions were either scarce or costly.
“The defining moment came when we saw a mum-to-be hosting her baby shower in a pub. We couldn’t help but think there should be more options for special occasions like this,” co-owner Elana explains.
With the goal to incorporate their shared love for baking and vintage collectables, Elana and Katie agreed on a mobile vintage high tea business. They spent the following year sourcing collectables for their vintage-styled decor.
“It was hard to find vintage items in Darwin, so every time I went home to visit family in Melbourne, I’d hit up the op-shops and market stalls. Now, we’re all set-up and taking bookings.”
Each guest receives four courses, including sandwiches and sweets, paired with hot and iced tea. Sittings can be arranged at an outdoor location of your choice – with set-up of tables and chairs included – or in the comfort of your own home. All bookings come fully equipped with linen, vintage teacups and fresh flowers. Oh, and you won’t have to do any dishes either – talk about luxe!
