Youth Profile - Kevin Huang

25-YEAR-OLD CDU graduate Kevin Huang has creativity running in his veins, recently completing a Bachelor of Design, making his decision to join LAUNCH Media a bit of a no-brainer. We caught up with him for a chat.

Tell us about LAUNCH Media – what is it?
LAUNCH Media is a media team under LAUNCH Darwin, which provides a platform for young people to develop skills on how to operate and market through social media. We also cover events during Youth Week, and other LAUNCH events throughout the year.

What’s your role in LAUNCH Media?
Photography is one of my passions, so I take photos for LAUNCH events, workshops and other things when they need it.

What inspired you to get involved?
I love fun ideas, experiencing new things and recording the interesting moments in my life. Social media is a new platform to share content with the public, so I think it’s great to learn more about it, which is why I signed up.

What are some of the fun projects you’ve been part of?
Me and a few of my teammates have been part of the LAUNCH.ed Online program, which is a digital adaption mentoring program created due to the COVID19 lockdown.

My project is Darwin Street Chats, which is a series of interviews with people to get their thoughts on hot topics related to the pandemic, like the borders reopening and getting through COVID. Career-wise, what do you hope to do in future? I would love to become an urban planner one day – I want to build something that benefits the community and might help them in daily life.

What’s a perfect weekend in D-Town for you?
Definitely having BBQ with friends at Nightcliff Foreshore early evening –watching the sunset and relaxing always makes me happy!
