Gee Con
Cosplayers will be looked after at this year's Geecon with a ‘Cosplay MacGyver’ on hand to help with any rips or tears.

Stephanie Alm’s station was a lifesaver last year for those decked out in costumes of their favourite characters, and this year she’ll be back to help with costume and prop emergencies.
“As people are running around and having fun, crises do happen, and we do want people to have the best experience possible so I’ll be there to share my knowledge and services for free,” she says.
Renowned cosplayers Hayley Elise and Astrokerrie will also head to the Top End anime and video game festival.
The man behind the voice of several Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokemon characters, Eric Stuart, will also be a special guest at the event.
Jack Buckley is coordinating the City of Darwin Youth Services events and says there are plenty of activities to get involved in over the weekend, including a Cosplay exhibition, illustration workshops and virtual reality experiences.
Buckley says the event, now in its second year, is a great opportunity for the geek community to celebrate what they love.
“It brings people out of the woodwork that might be reluctant to confess to the world they’re a geek,” he says.
“But it’s like any other subculture – it should be celebrated and GeeCon is a perfect opportunity for people to celebrate what they love doing and get involved in the wider community.”
More than 1000 people are expected to head to the festival over the weekend after the success of the inaugural event in 2017.
“It was a really well executed event and hopefully it will build on itself this year,” Buckley says.
“It’s attracting interest from Northern Queensland and Western Australia, too – it will be great if people can make a real trip of coming up to Darwin for a weekend or week of Cosplaying.”
