LIVING LA LOCA VIDA
Although the Dry season brings cooler conditions to the Top End, things are getting hot, hot, hot, as those fabulous, sexy rascals from Strut & Fret Production House return with their new show, Loca Vida, in its world premiere.

MUCH TO EVERYONE’S delight, The Spiegeltent returns to take up residence on the lawns by Parliament House (aka Sitzler Festival Lawn) for more than three weeks, the temporary digs for another bumper season of wild and seductive cabaret and circus.
Having brought shows such as BLANC de BLANC, The Party, and La Ronde to Darwin Festival audiences, the latest offering from Strut & Fret continues to deliver with sky-high kicks, exhilarating circus, and a pulsing soundtrack with show-stopping numbers choreographed by the best in the international biz.
Founding father of Strut & Fret, Scott Maidment, says it’s the people of Darwin that made the decision to world premiere the show here an easy one.
“It's true … because the Darwin audiences are so great, we went, ‘let's start the very first show at Darwin in Darwin Festival’,” he says.
“When we did Blanc de Blanc, we opened at the Sydney Opera House, and sometimes we’ve opened during a show during Adelaide Fringe, but this time we went, actually, Darwin audiences are really good, and let's let them be the first people to see the new show. So yeah, it's exciting.”
Loca Vida literally means crazy life, and Maidment and his merry crew are hoping to inspire audiences with this one.
“Loca Vida is basically telling you, not to dream about something, but to be it. You know, take a risk and live, live your crazy life,” he says.
“Basically [in the show] we meet a group of people who get together when night comes, and they fulfil their showbiz fantasies, and showbiz energies, and the audience become a part of that experience. It's really just a metaphor to have a great time, and dive in the deep end and, you know, live life to its fullest.”

“ There's amazing dance numbers in this one . I've been working with five different choreographers from right across the globe , and then spectacular circus. You are immersed in this in the world of the Spiegeltent ... the audience can definitely get ready to, you know, be covered in confetti and th ey might get a little bit wet at one stage. It's gonna be crazy because Lo ca Vi da is the crazy life,” Maidment says.
