Season's Greetings from Darwin Chorale

IT’S THE MOST WONDERFUL time of the year! Well, almost. As we power towards the end of what can most certainly be described as an unexpected year, the imminent arrival of Christmas is cause for celebration. And what better way to bring on that Christmas cheer than with some carols?

The angelic voices of Darwin Chorale are set to fill the celestial space of St Mary’s Cathedral in end-of-year concert, Season’s Greetings.

Musical Director Nora Lewis says the upcoming Christmas concert features the carols we all know and love, and perhaps some a little less known.

“There are hundreds of carols that have not made our modern cannon. I want to introduce the audience to some new ones that they are bound to fall in love with,” she says.

“These are some of the most beautiful carols ever written. They deserve to be part of our annual celebration, just like the ones we all know.”

Darwin Chorale features the vocal talents of at 40-strong choir, the church setting presenting the perfect backdrop the carry their harmonies to the ears of audience members keen to get into the Christmas spirit.

When asked how she’d describe this year’s Christmas concert, Lewis doesn’t hold back.

“Unabashedly highbrow carols!”

So, head along for a night of music and song, as well as an impressive Christmas bells performance, in one of Darwin’s most beautiful churches.
