Bingo Loco takes the traditional game and spins it on its head. Think a glow stick rave with epic music, dance-offs, crazy costumes, lip-sync battles, confetti showers, live com-edy and a lot of prizes – some you want and some you don’t – from sacks of coal to holidays in Bali.
Originating in Ireland, Bingo Loco has sold out shows across the globe. Now, it’s eyes down for Darwin, with former triple j presenter Alex Dyson ready to call out Legs 11.
Co-founder William Meara says the concept has been well received the world over because it taps in to a simple universal desire – ridiculous fun.
“People want to dance and be stupid but they also want comedy, competitions, prizes and theatrics,” he says.
“They want to be involved in a show and not just left on a dance floor. Bingo Loco is not a performance, it’s an engaging experience with the mentality of a theatre show, while always ensuring every element is completely ridiculous.
“I don’t know of any other event where thousands of people will be singing their hearts out to Disney anthems, falling out of their chairs with laughter, raving to Sandstorm as well as competing for awesome (and awful) prizes… All while playing Bingo.”
If the Disney anthems wasn’t enough to get you over the line, you can sleep well knowing proceeds from the event will go towards Make-A-Wish Australia, which helps bring to life the wishes of sick kids.
