Caiti Baker Beyond the Dust

Top End songstress Caiti Baker is hitting the track and traversing the Territory for her Beyond the Dust Tour.

By Tamara Howie

Baker will take her unique style that mixes blues, soul, gospel, jazz, big band and rock and roll from the centre up, kicking off in Alice Springs before hitting the best outback venues and heading all the way to Gove.

She hits the road with her band, John and Paul Barlett from Sixfour, to give Territorians the first taste of her new music.

“The NT will hear it all first before it goes anywhere – just how I like it,” she says.

Baker says she’s excited to share some new tunes after spending the last few months writing and recording.

“The songs I’ve been playing over the last two years are anywhere from two to seven years old, so it’s nice to switch it up and bring some fresh blood into the set,” she says.

“It’s always exciting to see people’s reactions for the first time, too.”

The tour is also a good chance for Baker to spend more time in the towns along the Stuart Highway.

“I’m happy we get to visit places that I don’t generally get a lot of time to stop in when we drive up,” Baker says.

“The best part about touring is getting to see the sights and sounds and it’s my favourite highway in the country – I’ve already driven it twice in the last month.”

If you can’t catch Baker on her tour she’s also joined an impressive line up for this year’s BASSINTHEGRASS in May.
