DSO Kids' Classics – Musical Magic

Designed specifically for younger audiences, the Darwin Symphony Orchestra (DSO) continues their series of kids’ classics concerts this month.

On a magical musical journey, you'll explore how music can change your mood, spark your imagination, and even calm you down. It’s the power of music – and it’s just like magic!

Led by DSO Concertmaster Monica Naselow, the DSO musicians will perform as a five-piece ensemble – a string quartet (two violins, viola and cello) and a big, beautiful concert harp!

Playing a variety of classical music from composers including Handel, Massenet and Tchaikovsky – there’s even a piece rumoured to have been written by King Henry VII – little people and their families will learn about each piece as it is played.

This fantastic series presents an opportunity to see classical music performed by highly skilled local musicians, and to learn about the instruments being played. It’s a great introduction to classical music for all ages, in an informal environment, where spontaneous dancing by children (and grownups) is encouraged!

Each concert runs for approximately 45 minutes with some time for questions from inquisitive minds and will be held at the Charles Darwin University Theatre in Casuarina, and at Taminmin College in Humpty Doo.

Sat 23 Sep | 9.30am & 11am | Taminmin College, Humpty Doo

Sun 24 Sep | 9.30am & 11am | Charles Darwin University Theatre
