NT News Live on Fridays
It's another one of those much-awaited events that, just like the dragonflies around town, returns to the Top End to mark the start of the Dry season.
By Chelsea Heaney.
This quintessential Darwin Friday afternoon knock-off session brings a range of musicians to Brown’s Mart every Friday of the Dry. Kicking things of is ROYMACKONKEY in duo form. A staple of the Darwin music scene for years, now is your chance to see this award-winning alternative rock group stripped back to two musicians.
Week two sees the country-tinged ballads of David Garnham, and Crank Williams and Patsy DeCline take the stage on May 19 with their old-school blues rock.
Capping off the month of May is Kim Koole, a previous NT Song Of The Year finalist and born and bred Territorian. Koole’s love of country music and laid-back approach inspired by the Darwin lifestyle is evident throughout her set lists. She just celebrated the launch of her debut album last month, so it is pretty safe to say that audience members can expect to hear some new tracks from this well-liked local.
This popular live music showcase in the Brown’s Mart courtyard draws in new talent and well-established local musicians every year and runs until October.
