Music from Moscow
MUSIC IS MEDICINE FOR THE SOUL, AND THAT’S JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED IN MUSIC FROM MOSCOW.
Performed by the Australian Doctors Orchestra (ADO) – made up of 80 medical professionals from around Australia, who are also classically trained musicians – the ADO performs in a different capital city each year, and this year it’s Darwin’s turn to enjoy their orchestral tonic.
Funds raised from each ADO performance are donated to charity, and the orchestra has chosen Anglicare NT’s Pandanus Childbirth Education and Perinatal Support Program as the recipient of funds from their inaugural Darwin concert.
This program offers free birth education and parenting support to young people aged 25 years and under.
Music from Moscow features Shostakovich's Symphony No 5 and Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto performed under the baton of maestro Matthew Wood, with the acclaimed violinist and former Darwin Symphony Orchestra concert master Veronique Serret also taking the stage.
The audience will also be treated to an overture written especially for the concert by local Darwin ADO Concert Convenor Dr Cathy Applegate titled ‘Dysdiadochokinesis’.
Members of the ADO are donating their time, and cover their own accommodation and flight costs to enable all proceeds from this concert go to Anglicare NT. So don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy a night of magical music, while supporting a very worthy local cause. Doctor’s orders!
