Beccy Cole
OTL's Liz Trevaskis has a chat with Australian country music legend Beccy Cole, who has recently released a new album titled Sweet Rebecca, published an autobiography called Poster Girl, and will bring her national tour to the NT as the headline act for Adelaide River Music Muster.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
My first concert would have starred my mother, singer Carole Sturtzel. I remember looking up from a pram. The first concert that I remember enjoying from a seat was Pasty Biscoe (perhaps I was 4 years old), and that’s when I told Mum I wanted to play guitar.
What’s your favourite album of all time?
I have so many ‘favourite albums of all time,’ I couldn’t possibly narrow it down to one. Here are my seven favourite albums instead:
Kasey Chambers – The Captain
Sara Storer – Beautiful Circle
Catherine Britt – Self titled
Dolly Parton – Little Sparrow
Linda Ronstadt – Greatest Hits
Guy Clark – Boats To Build
Cheryl Wheeler – Driving Home
Finish this sentence. My friends would describe me as…
Indescribable. Stubborn perhaps.
Whose posters did you have stuck to the wall when you were a teenager?
I had 286 posters of Dolly Parton – they were all destroyed in a house fire.
Describe your sound in three words.
Authentic, original, rustic.
