French Film Festival

CELEBRATING ITS 30TH ANNIVERSARY, The French Film Festival in association with Alliance Française de Darwin presents this wonderful celebration of magnifique French cinema and culture. French cuisine will also be available on selected nights, with La French serving up delicious crêpes. Très bon!

En liberté! (The Trouble With You)
This new comedy is an outrageously funny ride with a rollicking wild side, with an irresistible mix of laughs, action and romance. Set on the French Riviera, detective Yvonne is the righteous young widow of the local police chief who was killed in the line of duty. Each night, she puts their young son to sleep with tales of his daring and bravery – so, naturally, Yvonne is horrified to learn that her husband was not the embodiment of virtue as she had been led to believe.

La Chute De L’empire Américain (The Fall of the American Empire)
Pierre-Paul Daoust, an intellectual with a PhD in philosophy, is forced to work as a deliveryman to afford a decent living. One day, while on the job, he’s caught up in a bank heist gone wrong. With two dead and millions of dollars in bags lying on the ground, he’s confronted with a dilemma – leave empty handed or take the money and run?

Dilili á Paris (Dilili in Paris) 
As a series of kidnappings cast a dark shadow across Paris, Dilili takes it upon herself to get to the bottom of it, with the help of local delivery boy, Orel. Orel knows every major figure from the artistic heyday of the Belle Époque – Marie Curie, Picasso, Renoir, Louis Pasteur, Gustave Eiffel and Colette, just to name a few. They all play a part in Dilili’s investigation, as do the many glorious landmarks of Paris that are still present today. This is a fundraiser event for Alliance Française de Darwin.
