Flix In The Wet

Flix in the Wet has kept film-lovers happy throughout the never-ending build up this Wet season. 

The move to BCC Cinemas in Casuarina, after the city cinema’s closure, hasn’t deterred fans, with strong turn-outs for the season so far. 

But for those craving the night-sky above their cinema experience, never fear – the beloved Deckchair will reopen next month. But until then, here’s a run down of a few flicks you can catch indoors this month.

Too Much Info Clouding Over My Head
Vasilis is a director in search of a film. His mother wants him to make a masterpiece, his wife wants him to make his own film and his producer wants him to make something – anything at all. He does his best to accept advice. He can’t. He decides to make a film nobody else may want to see.

Sorry to Bother You
'Use your white voice'. With that simple piece of advice, stuck-on-the-bottom-rung telemarketer Cassius Green (Lakeith Stanfield) goes from living in his uncle’s garage to rocketing up the corporate ladder. Soon he’s the company’s newest rising star 'power caller'. But just what is he selling.

The Cleaners
Enter the hidden third world shadow industry of The Cleaners, where the Internet rids itself of what it doesn’t like. We meet five “digital scavengers” among thousands of people outsourced from Silicon Valley, whose job is to delete “inappropriate” content from the net. In a parallel struggle, we meet people around the globe whose lives are dramatically affected by online censorship.

Can You Ever Forgive Me?
Melissa McCarthy stars as Lee Israel, the best-selling celebrity biographer (and cat lover) who made her living in the 1970s and 80s profiling the biggest names of the era. When Israel found herself unable to get published because she had fallen out of step with the marketplace, she turned her art form to deception, abetted by her loyal friend Jack (Richard E. Grant).
