Lasers, Liquid & Light

Aussie production company Oracle Liquid has a reputation for delivering breathtaking presentations across the globe, including backdropping a DJ set in Ibiza, launching Audi’s latest wheels in Italy, and wowing audiences at Sydney’s highly anticipated annual festival of light Vivid. It’s impressive stuff, folks, and it’s coming to Darwin.

Darwin Waterfront comes alive, as Oracle Liquid’s exciting new three-show installation Liquid Light transforms the recreation lagoon in a vibrant multi-media extravaganza. Laser projections, water fountains, flames and animations are synchronised with up-beat, high energy music, to deliver a jaw-dropping audio-visual feast.

Dianne Parris is Business Development Manager at Oracle Liquid and says they’ve been in talks to develop a Territory production since 2019. The 360-degree vista at the Waterfront means there won’t be a bad seat in the house.

“We absolutely love the Darwin Waterfront, it’s just a perfect spot to do the type of shows that we do. You’ll be able to get a different view or perspective of it from where you’re standing or sitting, whether it’s up close or from far away,” she says.

First cab of the rank is Saltwater Spectacular, a captivating welcome to the Darwin Waterfront featuring tunes from the Territory’s own Baker Boy and King Stingray, with a voiceover from Larrakia man and Chair of Darwin Waterfront Corporation Richard Fejo. Fejo also advised Oracle Liquid on the visuals used to showcase elements of Larrakia culture.

Liquid Light Saltwater Spectacular

In the lead up to Christmas Eve, Saltwater Spectacular makes way for jolly Christmas themed show, Christmas Cascades, the soundtrack getting a festive makeover with up-beat remixes of traditional carols.

As if the Waterfront’s iconic New Year’s Eve fireworks displays weren’t enough, the third and final show is timed to kick off the countdown to 2024, bringing in the new year in a blaze of pyrotechnics and lasers. Pretty speccy!

“It’s entertaining, and something [Darwin audiences] may not have seen before. Think the Bellagio [in Las Vegas] there’s air shooters, flames and projections. There’s lots to see,” Parris says.

“The colours and music, everything just goes together. Come down with your friends and family, have something to eat. It’s an attraction you’ll want to see more than once.”
