Mindil Beach Sunset Markets Opening Night

April usually means two things - the Dry is on its way, and the Top End’s markets begin to bloom.

The famous Mindil Beach Sunset Markets returns with a special opening night celebration featuring new food and craft stalls and entertainment.

Stall co-ordinator Jack Buckley says there are new additions to more than 200 existing food and craft stalls with some delicious new grub to dig into, and plenty of local souvenirs.

“We’re trying to really focus on and encourage arts and craft products that are locally handmade or domestically created,” he says.

“We’re trying to increase and promote local artists, producers, musicians, performers and manufacturers and return the markets to its roots.”

Market-goers can enjoy some new flavours on the main drag, including new Filipino and Korean food stalls.

To kick the markets off in style, the opening night celebrations will feature local favourites David Garnham and the Reasons to Live and the sky will light up at 8.30pm.

“We’ve got the fireworks display and all the other attractions that make the markets so iconic,”  Buckley says.

Opening Night | Thu 25 Apr | 4-9pm | Mindil Beach
