The Green Room - September

A luck tropical wilderness has bloomed in the Darwin International Airport with The Green Room coming to life.

The new venue, inspired by the beloved bar of the same name in the original Hotel Darwin, will give day-time travellers a chance to enjoy the best of NT arts and culture.

Program manager Amy Hetherington says the September line-up includes several live music acts, some footy and a soiree.

“We tried to match the program with already existing events – the music is based on the Drive It Live program (104.1 Territory FM), we’ll have an AFL Grand Final party, and we’re also planning an End of the Dry party, too,” she says.

“It’ll all be really fun.”

Travellers will be treated to music from iconic Territory performers at peak periods on Friday afternoons.

“It’ll be the kind of music you can actively listen to, but also makes you feel like you’re welcome in the Territory,” Hetherington says.

“It’s all 100 per cent local content and local stories.”

The new venue launched last month and has already pushed the creative boundaries of a traditional airport, with travellers embracing live music, and SPUN Stories beaming their Darwin Festival show live into the terminal.
