Seniors Expo
The Grey Panthers dance troupe, the Still Belting Out choir – seniors will be loud and proud as they take over the lawns of the Museum and Art Gallery of the NT for this year’s Seniors Expo.
A seniors’ catwalk will model chic pre-loved clothing, while line dancing and the lively and limber Grey Panthers will get things moving in the Showcase Area.
“We also have a demo of Zumba Gold. It’s a cardio-exercise based around Latin American dancing designed for the over-50s,” Council of the Ageing NT’s (COTA) Stephanie Kendall says.
For those who’d prefer to stay put, seated aerobics classes will give the upper body a gentle workout.
“We’ve got about 60 different stalls offering pain management, free hearing tests, consumer affairs and computer club,” says Kendall.
If you feel an adventure is coming your way, be sure to enter COTA NT’s fundraising raffle. The prize is two flights to Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Perhaps the best part of the 2017 Expo? Free morning tea overlooking the Arafura Sea, served by students from Darwin High School.
“It’s a nice mixture of generations,” says Kendall.
Hard to believe it all fits into just four hours.
