'Tis the Season!
Get in the spirit of Christmas with a range of local events certain to inspire the warm fuzzies.
The Voice of Christmas Concert
Enjoy a passionately-selected program of music, performed by a string orchestra, harp and organ. Musical directors Michael Loughlin and Nora Lewis AM designed the program to include both well-known and obscure songs, including the 'Messiah’s Hallelujah Chorus' and 'Corelli’s Christmas Concerto' through to more contemporary songs like 'Text Me Merry Christmas'.
Palmerston Carols
Grab a picnic basket, blanket and the family and head to this enchanting evening of carols. With special performances by Indie Road, Peter Rautoka, Jordan Montgomery, children’s performer Lindy Lou, the Palmerston Senior Songsters, local school choirs, Arafura Wind Ensemble and last but not least, Santa! Proceeds from candle sales go to the Make a Wish Foundation.
Carols By Candlelight
Celebrating all the favourites, this heart-warming evening, put on by the Christmas in Darwin Association, guarantees a great festive outing for the whole family. The Army Band, Darwin Youth Choir and Darwin Chorale will delight audiences with an array of carols. Don’t worry that you’ll forget the words – there are carol books, battery operated candles and refreshments are on sale throughout the evening.
Even Rudolph will be in awe of the impressive fire works display that concludes the evening. Proceeds from this year’s event go to the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children. With an appearance by Santa and even a sprinkling of snow, it’s certain to be a Ho-Ho-Ho-down!
Darwin Waterfront
Watch the kids light up with this enchanting Christmas display – including a snow machine – held every evening in December. Look out for the elusive Santa too – he is very busy at this time of year but has promised to visit the Wave Lagoon not once but twice!
Community Christmas Carols
Come along to Darwin Baptist
Church and bust out those classic Christmas carols. Food, drink and candles for caroling will be available for purchase, with all proceeds going to Foodbank NT. Foodbank NT is a
community supported, non-profit organisation, which was developed to feed the country’s needy by redistributing surplus food. Bring your family, a rug and be part of this special evening!
