A Meter Apart : The Free Methodist Choir

The Free Methodist Choir has been performing since 2019 and is largely comprised of members of the Congolese refugee community, many of whom have fled from the devastating Congo wars. Finding a new home in Darwin, they have maintained a cultural expression rooted in the musical and spiritual traditions of their homeland, while adding colour to the rich and complex multicultural musical terrain of our city.

Rhythmic, spiritual and uplifting, this music is at the heart of life and worship in Darwin’s Congolese community.
