DIFF 2023 - Joyland

Joyland is the age-old story of a patriarchal family yearning for the birth of the next generation male heir who will continue the family line.  However, cupid’s arrow has other plans when their youngest son secretly joins an erotic dance theatre and falls in love with an ambitious trans starlet. This film explores the two love stories that emerge and intersect with one another, challenging the ideas of cultural, patriarchal, and hetrosexual norms.
